Standards of the Pros and Cons of Kids Wear

"Infant and Children's Textile Products Safety Technical Specifications", the national compulsory standard for kids wear, implemented on June 1, 2016. It became the first national compulsory standard specifically formulated for infants and children's textile products (kdis wear).

The standard makes detailed provisions on the ropes of different parts of children' s clothing such as head, neck, shoulders, waist and other parts, stipulating the head and neck parts of clothes for infants under 7 years old should be without ropes. The standard also makes stipulation on textile accessories, requiring them with a certain tensile strength and without any sharp tips and edges. It also adds the provision of the combustion performance.

According to different safety standards, the safety technique category can be divided into A, B, C class by this standard, Class A the best, Class B good, Class C the basic requirements. It requires that the textile products of infants should meet Class A requirement, the skin contacted clothes should at least meet  Class B and the non skin contacted clothes should at least meet Class C.

The Key Index in Purchasing:
1. PH value.
2. Formaldehyde content. The formaldehyde content of Class A should not be over 20mg/kg, should not be over 75mg/kg of Class B, should not be over 300mg/kg of class C.
3. Decomposable aromatic amine dyes(AZO Dyes). It is a toxic and harmful dye. It can decompose the aromatic amine components in the reduction conditions, which can be harmful for human body and lead to cancers under a long-term use. The national compulsory standard prohibits the use of 23 kinds of  AZO dyes.
4. Color fastness. It is the important quality index for the dyeing performance of children's clothing, mainly showing the degree of clothing fade. Clothing with low color fastness are easy to fade, those with high color fastness are not.
5. Heavy metal content. According to the national provisions, the heavy metals contained in kids wear fabric are: antimony, cobalt, copper, nickel, mercury, etc. Excessive content of heavy metal is likely to cause poisoning and it will affect the intelligence development of children.
6. Fiber content. It refers to the composition and content of clothing fabric material. The national standard specifies the deviation of the fiber content.
7.Safety performance such as drawstring. The national standard stipulates the safety specifications of the button, drawstrings, cords and implement standards for the use of the materials, design and production of children' s clothing, and requires reasonable designs so as not to cause any accidental injury.
