In the past half century, bikinis have been the symbol of women's fashion clothes. Bikini is regarded as the greatest "invention" in the world clothing industry in the 20th century.

The Origin of BikiniThe Origin of Bikini:
On June 30, 1946, an atomic bomb exploded on Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. Eighteen days later, a Frenchman named Louis Reard introduced a bra-style jacket and a briefs swimsuit. On that day, he hired a call girl as a model and displayed his work in a public swimming pool. A week later, bikinis became popular in Europe.

The inventors of bikinis are two Frenchmen—Jacques Heim and Louis Rilde. But they were not the first to come up with the idea of bikini. As early as 1600 BC, there were murals of bikini swimsuits. Heim is a female fashion designer from Cannes, France. She designed a small swimsuit and named it "Atome". She hired a plane that advertised her design by setting off smoke and writing letters in the air, which read: "Atome - the world's smallest swimsuit." Three weeks later, mechanical engineer Rilde also used the plane to write in the air: "Bikini—smaller than the world’s smallest swimsuit."
